Multifunctional Nanocomposites and Biologically inspired nanostructures

My research focuses on multifunctional nanostructures and their devices by drawing inspiration from nature. In many scenarios harsh environments require smart material solutions capable of addressing needs such as vibration dampening, thermal management, and health-monitoring. Our approaches will integrate nanostructures into composites and hybrid materials in intelligent and scalable ways that mimic biological systems and have applications in a variety of areas in materials science and bio-technology such as (but not limited to) polymer based gels, membranes, self assembled layered structures, mechanically friendly nanocomposites, artificial muscle like actuators, sensors and flexible electronics such as RFIDs, Antennas, barcodes etc.
