CS 450 Database Assignment #3
You are to hand in a simple Oracle Database System including the following features
A 5+ Table Database
A 4NF design showing the all the DB attributes and FDs and MVDs
A Design of the ERD and DFD for your system
A Report describing your system the enterprise it is modeling
A client front-end using Java JDBC which implements behavior in your DFD design
Your Database will include the following:
At least 2 Triggers
At least 2 Stored Functions
At least 2 Stored Procedures
At least 2 Detailed Reports
At least 5 Tables with at least 4 foreign keys
The project is due on September 23, 2001. The Stamford class presentations will be on that day. All presentation materials need to be submitted on the morning of March 26.
It should be handed in with all source codes, design work, and the written paper. The paper will descibe the enterprise that you are modelling show all the design work in a formal presentation style. Your paper should have a table of contents with page numbers to your project for easy reference.
The presentation should be 15-20 minutes, and should get right to the point of your Database System. I will assume that you will demonstrate in your presentation your system design, all the Oracle required elements, as well as the Java front-end. You should make about 10 overhead slides which best illustrate your presentation. Slides can include graphics or text. Text slides should have a few bulleted highlights, and not have copies of paragraphs from your paper.
You must run tthe database system demo within your 20 minutes time. Be sure that you have made sure that your demo will run, before the last day of class.
