Computer Aided Manufacturing

The Alpha_1 group and the Robotics and Sensing group have been involved in a number of projects and case studies in computer aided manufacturing. The Alpha_1 system manufacturing interface enables the production of process plans and tool paths for manufacturing parts for which there is an Alpha_1 CAD model. Alpha_1 enables users to design using manufacturing features.

The interaction of both groups has been facilitated by the creation of the interdisciplinary advanced manufacturing laboratory (AML). The reverse engineering project, the sensing for advanced manufacturing (SAM) project and the URK/UPE project have been successful products of this continuous interaction.

A number of papers and videos describing a number of those interdisciplinary projects are available for the public and can be accessed from this document.
